About Hoy

From the 28th of March to the 11th of April, 2008, the Island of Hoy played host to the second of the 3 islands series of workshops. Artists from China, Cuba, Jamaica, Jordan, Trinidad, Mauritius, Pakistan, Iceland, England and Scotland - including local artists - participated alongside the local community in what was a continuation of the success of the first workshop on Tanera Mor.
There could have been no finer back-drop to such a meeting. Hoy, along with the Orkney Islands, is a place of stunning natural beauty that has been greatly enriched by the readiness of the people to meet and learn from other cultures, whilst at the same time retraining its own special character. The workshop was be co-ordinated by The Pier Arts Centre – Stromness’ award winning arts centre.
